GE Brillion Oven
When Apple said “There’s an app for that,” they weren’t kidding. The latest and greatest in home appliances isn’t an appliance at all– it’s an app.
With GE Brillion technology, all you have to do is download an app onto your phone and you’ll have the freedom to be connected to any of your GE Brillion-enabled appliances through the touch of a button. If you’re like me, you’ve had at least one time where you come home from somewhere and your heart stops because you realize you’ve left the oven on. You’re flooded with relief as you promise yourself and whatever higher power you believe in that you’ll NEVER EVER be that careless again. Well, now you don’t have to be! Next time you’re about to leave the house, just double check your app to make sure your oven is off.
You know, that’s great, but it gets better. Don’t want to get off the couch because you’re watching your favorite TV show? No problem. Preheat the oven from your phone. Did you accidentally set the wrong temperature? It’s okay– change it on the app. You can even set cooking modes and meat probe settings, whatever that is. You can also access oven settings like temperature offsets, auto shut-off and Sabbath mode through the app.
Have you ever stuck something in the oven and went off to do something else? As a busy parent juggling kids, work, and household duties, it’s hard to keep track of everything at once. With the app’s alert function, you have one less thing to worry about. Set a timer on the app and you’ll get an alert sent to your phone– never eat a burnt cookie again. Not only does it save your food from being burnt to a crisp, it also saves you huge amounts of time. Think of all the things you could get done instead of triple checking to see if your soufflé has that perfect pouf to it.
I haven’t even got to the best part yet: saving money. It does seem a little counterintuitive to say that buying a new GE Brillion oven saves you money but it’s true! You’ll be able to save energy while keeping track of your oven from virtually anywhere, as long as you are connected to your home Wi-Fi network. No more leaving the oven on longer than necessary, no more overheating, no more problems. Oh, and did I mention the app is free?
But what if it’s one of those rare occasions where our phone’s aren’t an arm’s reach away? The chances of that are slim, but the chance that it isn’t replaced with another electronic device, like a tablet, is even slimmer. Luckily, you can have the app installed on any iPad or tablet as well. You can even install the app on multiple devices in the household. Hint hint: someone else can do the cooking tonight!
So far, GE has released two Brillion enabled ovens, both available at Superco, with more on the way in 2014. This represents the movement towards energy efficient and advanced technology in home appliances and is a small price to pay for convenience, peace of mind, and safety.
